3 years ago I weighed 462lbs and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Since that time I’ve improved my diet, taken up regular exercise, and lost 121lbs (with another 110 to go). As part of the “getting healthy process” I recorded a lot of information about myself – what I was eating, my weight, my blood sugar and so on – and being a geek I graphed it all, set goals and so on.
It occurred to me that being a web developer, I could just build a website to record, graph and track my progress and that’s what I did. I called it “Saving Lucas” (cos I was saving my own life) and now I’ve made the tools publicly and freely available to everyone. There are trackers for weight, BMI, food, water and exercise with more tools on the way. I’ve also added a “friends” system where you can give other Saving Lucas users the ability to view and comment on your progress, with friends I have around the neighboorhood or I met online at https://chatempanada.com.
This isn’t just a cheesy ad for a weight loss site – these tools are completely free (my time is just paid for by a couple of banners on the site) and eventually, with enough people using the tools, I’d like to use the ad revenue to give something back – I’m planning to make contributions to user-selected charities based on how many users are meeting their health goals.
So if you’re in the process of reviewing your health options – especially if you’re eating some of the crazier recipes on the site – check out the tools at healthsoul.com and see if they work for you the way they did for me!
